FAQ
1) Do your players get paid?
A) Absolutely not! Everyone who plays for the team plays for the love of
the game, and actually helps raise their own support. This allows
players to be scouted and recruited by college teams as the Lions are an
amateur organization, not a professional team.
2) When and where are practices/games?
A) We practice on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 6:30pm until
9:00pm. Our practices are held at the Brookside Reservation in the
Cleveland Metroparks. Click on the "Facilities" tab to the left for
directions to our practice facility. Games are played on Saturday
evenings with a 7:30pm kickoff. We play our home games at John Marshall
High School in Cleveland. You can also get directions to John Marshall
on the "Facilities" page.
3) How much does it cost to play?
A) Each player is asked to help support the team. We are all asked to
raise a minimum of $250.00 through the sale of sponsorships. This allows
players to play for a top notch team without having to pay a "team fee".
4) When are tryouts?
A) This year our tryouts are on March 12, 2006 at 2pm at Estabrook Recreation Center 4125 Fulton Ave, Cleveland, OH. Click on the "News" tab on the
left for more information. If you do not make the team it is because you
have quit, not because we have cut you. While we only carry a 60 man
dress roster, we also carry a reserve roster and players move up from
that reserve roster as needed.
5) Do you have to have college experience to play?
A) No. While about 85% of our players did play some level of college
football, it is certainly not a prerequisite, and many players who did
not play college football have had great success playing for the Lions.
6) How do I become a Lion?
A) The first step is to fill out an online player application. We will
keep your information on file and contact you regarding new player
information meetings and training camp information. It is very important
that you give a VALID EMAIL ADDRESS as this will be our main method of
communication. We generally get well over 100 new player applications
during the off season and we do not have the staff to make telephone
calls to all of the prospects.
